International (including EU) students
We know that some students joining us from outside England may face challenges in travelling to York. We want to support you through any difficulties and encourage you to join us as soon as you are able to.
Unable to get to campus?
If you are unable to get to campus for the start of term in September due to travel restrictions, most courses will continue to offer an online provision for the first six weeks of autumn term (until 7 November 2021) and in some cases longer. All offer-holders will receive an email outlining the details for your course.
We hope this will give you enough time to join us on campus, even if you face extensive travel restrictions or if you need to quarantine. You will be able to enrol online from the beginning of August and tell us what date you plan to arrive in the UK.
If you aren’t able to join us by 7 November or have any questions about your start date please contact your department as soon as possible so that they can discuss your options with you.
For more information please see:
Currently, anybody aged 18 or over in the UK is eligible for the Covid-19 vaccination free of charge, regardless of their nationality or immigration status. Vaccination status is not a requirement for you taking up your offer and we will have vaccination clinics on campus throughout Autumn Term. You will be eligible to receive your first or second vaccination, no matter which country you are from.
Financial support for international offer-holders travelling to York for the first time
To support international students travelling to York for the start of the academic year 2021/22, we have outlined a package of financial support for if you’re coming to the UK for the first time.
Tuition fee deposits and CAS for international postgraduate taught offer-holders
If you’re an offer holder for a postgraduate taught course you may have to pay a deposit to confirm your place and receive your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). If you’re unable to take up your place at York for reasons relating to Covid-19 we’ll refund your deposit in full. We understand that you may also prefer to wait before making your final decision about your study plans, given the current situation. The deadline to pay this deposit and request your CAS is 15 September 2021.
