Travel advice for International Students
We look forward to welcoming you to York and want to let you know what to do if you are travelling to the UK from abroad.
Firstly, you will need to provide your journey and contact details to the UK Government 48 hours before you travel. Then, depending on which country you are travelling from, you may have to self-isolate for 14 days when you arrive.
The UK government’s advice on self-isolation and an up-to-date list of exempt countries can be found here: How to self-isolate when you arrive in the UK.
If you are required to self-isolate:
travel straight to the place where you will be self-isolating
you can use our free airport collection service or public transport
you must use a face mask and stay 2 metres away from others
once you arrive at your accommodation, you should not have visitors unless they are providing essential care
do not leave your accommodation for 14 days unless absolutely essential
complete the University self-isolation form so we can provide help and support.
If you’ve booked University accommodation, we can offer you a free room for the two weeks before your official university start date. If you need this service, please complete this form or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Please be careful, we have heard of international students being targeted by scammers. The University never offers discounts on tuition or accommodation fees through third parties.
If you are unable to get to campus for the start of the year, we will provide online teaching and support so you can participate wherever you are, until you can join us in York.
We’ve been working hard to ensure that you will have a safe, supportive and engaging learning experience whenever you get to York.
If you have any queries, please visit our International Support web pages or email email@example.com
